The position of Kitchen Porter gives the successful candidate the
opportunity to contribute to the work of a respected charitable Trust

THE ROLE

The Kitchen Porter will support the catering staff, in ensuring the
kitchen
is kept to the highest hygiene standards at all times. The Kitchen
Porter
is a key member of the kitchen team and has a critical role to ensure
the
kitchen and dining area are kept to the highest standards at all times

JOB PROFILE KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

* Keep all kitchen work surfaces (counters, sinks, cookers, walls)
clean and sanitized, including deep cleaning, when required.
* Sweep and mop floors at the beginning and ending of shifts.
* Clean up spills immediately to ensure the safety of all at all
times
* Wash cookware, utensils and cutlery fast to keep them in rotation.
* Process deliveries, as they come in & checking all items are
delivered, as ordered and help the chefs with stock controls.
* Arrange equipment and ingredient deliveries.
* Keep the food and supply storage areas organised.
* Manage waste, as per HAACP standards.
* Help with routine food prep tasks (such as peeling and chopping
vegetables) when needed.
* Under the direction of the Chefs, help in the delivery of a full
catering service that reflects the Iveagh Trust’s commitment to its
residents.

HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

* Follow food hygiene, and Health & Safety guidelines
* To ensure that reasonable care is taken for health and safety of
yourself and others, who are authorised to be in the kitchen.
* To keep work areas safe and report any hazard, loss, damage or
near misses in accordance with the Iveagh Trust procedures.
* To participate in all Health and Safety training scheduled for
you.

EXPERIENCE

* At least 2 years’ experience working as a kitchen porter role

ESSENTIAL

* Demonstrable understanding of health and safety rules
* Ability to work unsupervised and to show initiative
* Ability to keep accurate records.
* HAACP Level 1 qualification.

DESIRABLE

* Experience of working/volunteering in the Homeless sector.
* Competence in using Microsoft apps (Word, email etc).
* Leaving Cert or equivalent is a plus but not necessary
